Free your voice

What do all great singers have in common?
A strong foundation.
Great technique gives you the freedom to fully express yourself, musically, physically, emotionally, and in the way that you choose.
However you want to sing it, whatever the genre, I will help you learn the tools you need to make it look and sound exactly the way you want. So my question is this:
What is freedom to you?

Hello! I'm Leigh.
I'm a singer, vocal coach, and teacher of voice and the Alexander Technique based in Hamburg. I trained as a classical singer at the Eastman School of Music and the Universität Mozarteum, which was followed by three and a half years of training as a Teacher of the Alexander Technique at ATAZ Munich and more than eight years of teaching experience and self experimentation. I've learned a lot, and am still learning every day: my students are my best teachers!
In addition to my teaching practice, I keep an active performance schedule. You can find some samples of my artistic work here:
Voice Lessons and Vocal Coaching on the Basis of Alexander Technique
As a professional singer who has benefitted tremendously from the Alexander Technique, I teach voice on the basis of core AT principles. My own experience is primarily in classical and folk music: however, I love jazz, pop, and R&B, and firmly believe that a strong technique based in the AT will help you to sing freely in whatever style you wish. Please tell me where you want your voice to go - I can help you get there. If you are far from Hamburg, don't worry, distance is no barrier: I also teach online, via zoom.

A highly effective method for eliminating bad habits
From Hugh Jackman and Judi Dench to Madonna, Sting, and Olympic Gold Medalists Linford Christie and Daley Thompson: actors, musicians, and athletes have known and trusted the alexander technique for generations.
It's not just for elite performance though: research points to the effectiveness of AT in treating and preventing chronic back pain, and significant anecdotal evidence suggests that it also supports mental health: practitioners commonly report decreased anxiety, better stress regulation, and improved clarity of thought.
The Alexander Technique emphasizes mind-body unity, and students are encouraged to explore and understand the ways in which their patterns of thought and movement interact.
For singers, this is a particularly helpful basis: as our bodies are our instruments, and both breath and voice work in a complex interplay of voluntary and involuntary coordination, we can build technique in a holistic way that considers body, mind, and emotions, as well as builds resilience for difficult performance situations.
